Eat Your Way to Gorgeous Skin!

Hey, Barbizon of Akron! Are you having trouble keeping skin clear, supple, and balanced? Try eating some of these delicious foods that have been shown to improve skin health!

Veggies - Green ones are the best. Loaded with skin-protective antioxidants and help keep you skin’s outer layer hydrated. Broccoli, spinach, squash, brussel sprouts.

Berries – Antioxidants are special chemicals that assist in skin repair and the strengthening of blood vessels. It has also been proven eating fruit prevents UV damage. Blueberries, strawberries, raspberries.

Protein – One serving equals one egg, or 3 ounces of fish or meat or 1/2 cup beans. Protein is critical to collagen production. 4-6 servings is the recommendation.

Water – Minimum eight 8-ounce glasses. Water is essential for hydrating skin and plumps and erases wrinkles.

Whole Grains – Unlike processed, refined carbs (like white flour,) whole grains have the shell of the grain intact. Inside the shell contains nutrients that help the body produce glycosaminoglycans, substances necessary for the skin to build firming collagen and elastin fibers. Brown rice, millet, quinoa.

Fats – Healthy and unsaturated fats help keep skin from getting dry and dull. Avocados, salmon, flaxseed oil or seeds.
