Steal the Runway Hairstyles!

For this 2013 Spring and Summer season, add a little extra style to that hair! Below are some easy looks that made a big impression on the runway and with us at Barbizon of Akron. There is a look for everyone, so come find yours!

Low Rider: Chanel recently killed the runway with hair that was twisted at the back and then accented with a beautiful pearl accessory. Use a center part and keep hair out of the face. Very low maintenance, easy to do and you can change up the accessory to match any look!

Classic: The classic slicked back pony tail also made a huge impression. Both Jean Paul Gautier and Christian Dior opted for these styles. Gautier opted for a medium placed pony tail while Dior's models rocked a pony tail at the nape of the neck.

Ride the Wave: Many designers opted for a laid back look with natural waves. To compliment the model's faces, some used a center part, some had a side part and some rocked a sweeping side fringe.

Pin It: No, we're not talking about Pinterest! Balenciaga models rocked the runway with the front sections of hair pinned at the back of the head and accented with accessories. Another simple style and a fresh play on what has become a more classic look.

Headband: The always stylish Dolce & Gabanna decided to switch things up by tying beautifully patterned scarves around their models' hair. At the back, the hair was gathered into neat chignons.

Between these five looks, there is no reason to look drab when you can look fab! All of these styles are low maintenance, easy to do and flatter just about everyone! Try out each look and let us know how it goes.

Shape Up your Wardrobe: Tips on How to Dress for your Body Type

We all yearn for that perfect body, whatever it is that "perfect" means. The fact of the matter is that NO ONE has a perfect body! Some people can come close, either thanks to genetics, diet and exercise or plastic surgery, but in the end, we all have what some would consider "flaws." At Barbizon of Akron, we think that all bodies are beautiful! Learning how to dress for your body shape is just one way to show off your great body. Read below to find out what "shape" you may have and how to dress for it!

Cameron Diaz
Straight: The straight body type is defined by having hips and a bust that are the same size and a waist that is only slightly smaller. If this fits your body type, you fall into the same category as Cameron Diaz and Hilary Duff! The key to dressing your body is to keep your hip and bust in balance while accentuating your waist. Wearing shirts that cinch at the waist work well. Off the shoulder tops can also lengthen and accentuate your shoulders, making your waist appear narrower. Wearing skirts that have pockets or other accents can help make hips look curvier while jeans with a slight flare, whiskering at the hips can make your bottom half look fuller.
Scarlett Johansson

Hourglass: If your hips and bust are well balanced while your waist is well defined, you may have an hourglass figure and join the ranks with celebrities like Scarlett Johansson and Kim Kardashian. To dress your body, try wearing dresses or shirts with a wide belt to help accentuate your waist. Wrap styled shirts or tailor fitted jackets and shirts look great on you! When it comes to bottoms, you can pull off just about anything, so long as it is in balance with your top. Pencil skirts, high-waisted skirts and bootcut jeans are sure not to disappoint!

Beyonce Knowles

Pear: If you have narrow shoulders, a smaller bust and curvy hips, you're a pear! Just like fellow pears, Beyonce Knowles or Paris Hilton, wearing necklaces or scarves can help draw attention to your upper body by balancing out the attention to your lower half. Wearing hip length jackets and shirts that are slightly nipped at the waist also draws more attention to your bust. Wearing very simple, dark colored jeans or slacks that fall from the widest part of your hips will help balance out your two halves as well.

Tyra Banks
Apple: Wide shoulders, larger bust and narrow hips? Why, you have an apple shape similar to Tyra Banks and Catherine Zeta-Jones! The key for dressing your body is much like the Pear, only backwards! Narrow v-necks, dark colored tops, and tops that accentuate your waist work best. Wearing full or ballerina type skirts look wonderful on you. For jeans, think wide-legs or something flared. Both will make your hips look curvier and will better balance out your body.

These are the four most popular body types, so this should help many of you dress for your type! Remember, comfort and confidence is key, so if the clothes that would typically work for your type don't generally work for you, create your own style! Mixing and matching and experimenting does much more than any guide could ever do. You'll always be most beautiful being YOU!
