Just when you thought you wouldn’t get any updates on heart throb Drew Tyler Bell… This Barbizon Of Akron Alum and superstar (by the way) is not only doing his acting thing on The Bold and the Beautiful, he also starred on an episode of CSI NY recently! TOTALLY AWESOME! Everyone needs to check out the episode and root on a fellow talent who got his start right here in Akron. As mentioned, Drew also stays super busy with the Soap The Bold and the Beautiful and can proudly boast having filmed over 370 episodes to date!! We’d also like to add that Drew’s a scholar to boot - in addition to his time on set, he goes to college full time where he is working on a business degree. Way to go!
Barbizon of Akron Alum and cutie pie Nadya is back at it with Classic Imports where she is the fit model of choice due to her perfect stats!! Nadya can’t wait to get back with the client to work with them for a FULL day trying on various trendy tops, dresses, skirts, and pants for this eclectic clothing company located in Wooster Ohio. What’s Nadya’s responsibility?? Just making sure the clothes fit JUST RIGHT – Sounds like a sweet deal – reap in the dough just for trying on fab-o clothing!! Rock on!
Improvements Catalog couldn’t get enough of our great Barbizon of Akron Grads this past month!!! In preparation for their Spring/Summer editions, our client needed to utilize several of our faces! Juanita for instance was booked for a two day shoot where one day she shot in studio and other other on location! Mindy Cooper was booked as well and had a terrific time lounging in a water chair and water noodle in order to get just the right shot!! Our little one Vivienne Cisar was called upon as well for a girly shoot featuring her doing it up at a “girls only” tea party complete with mini tea set! HOW CUTE! If you can believe it, we’re not done yet!! Our other talent, Morgan and Erin played pool table tennis and got to shoot in a pool, while sweetie Corey Clemens showed up on set to play with a make-believe dog – our sweetie pie did a terrific job improvising especially since he was supposed to have a REAL doggie to work with! And finally, Rebekah Toussant was on hand for two shots… One garden scene and one where she was featured poolside as well donning a swimsuit! We love staying busy and so does our talent! Can’t wait for more to come!

Our Barbizon of Akron alum and model extraordinaire Andrea Debevc will be back in New York City for the next 2 months working away and going from audition to audition. Following her experiences in NYC Andrea is heading to Canada where she will be doing an extensive amount of work! The biggest of her achievements while in the lovely country to our North is that Samuel Dong campaign that she did in Montreal. The results of her elaborate shoot – that included a herd of ostriches, will not only appear on billboards throughout the country but also in the designer’s Look Book! Beginning as a biannual program in 1992, The Barbizon International Scholarship program became an annual program in 2007 in order to accomodate an increasing number of applicants. To date, Barbizon has awarded $900,000.00 in college scholarships and this year we are proud to announce that local young lady Briana Lehman from North Ridgeville, and a sophomore at North Ridgeville High School, is the 2010 winner! Lehman is a stellar student with a 4.3 Grade Point Average and she's talented to boot – playing volleyball, not only for school but also for the junior olympics. Miss. Lehman who has dreams of attending a top-ranked university, now has the opportunity to fulfill her aspirations as a result of this scholarship.
Briana credits much of her self-confidence and ambition to the experience that she had with Barbizon of Akron. Barbizon of Akron, taught her the importance of saying no to peer pressure, cultivating a better sense of poise and general presence, and of course developing a competitive edge. Lehman says, “Barbizon of Akron pulled it all together for me. Now I know how to go into any job interview and [handle myself]… Barbizon helped me prepare for the real world and put me ahead of the pack!”
Briana’s mother also attributes her daughter’s strong sense of character and self–esteem to Barbizon of Akron. “[Barbizon of Akron] helps teens develop self-confidence, self esteem, and the strength of character to be able to stand up to the peer presssure that is out there today. [Barbizon Graduates] realize that they have a future and that they have the confidence to stand up to the pressure… Barbizon gave Briana the whole package: She’s a great student, self-confident, she can think on her feet, and when she walks into the room people take notice of her”
